#TBT :: Throw Back Trend

Taking the old completely out of the new is kind of impossible, we’ll flash back on them sometime to enjoy that feeling we user to enjoy again.. it’s flash back trend, that trend we used to love.

1. Check mate

image

Teens of the ’90s were the ‘rad plaid’ generation, influenced hugely by grungy icons like Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. Some people couldn’t let go of their youth, however, and plaid shirts have been the staple uniform of most Irish men ever since. This season, plaid has returned to its 90s roots and is worn more sloppy and oversized, thrown over girly summer dresses with Doc Martens or tied around the waist of a contrasting plaid.

2. Birkenstocks

Since the demise of the Ugg, there hasn’t been a so-ugly-it’s-kind-of-cute shoe we’ve loved as much as the Birkenstock. Although the Birkenstock brand is anything but new, they have had a fashionable makeover since becoming a trend piece, and this summer can be bought in every shade and print imaginable. We’re particularly loving the metallic shades for double trend points.

3. Jumpsuits

image

Everyone’s favourite ’80s all-in-one has become a wardrobe staple for many women because it’s just so damn convenient. Start with a simple base jumpsuit in a neutral shade, then style it for every occasion by changing up footwear and accessories to completely transform you look

4 . Creepers

image

Another ’90s punk throwback that is everywhere this summer is the platformed creeper. Seen on everyone from Rihanna to Miley, creepers’ grunge aesthetic can be embraced on your day off when styled with leather or toned down with some sharp tailored trousers for the office.

5. Backpacks

image

This two-strapped accessory is the perfect festival bag and waaay more practical on a night out than a silly clutch. If you fear that sporting a backpack will make you look like a five-year-old then opt for a more grown-up leather version in a neutral black and team it with complementary and similarly on-trend black leather mules.

6. Mom jeans

image

Mom jeans are so called because they were once the ill-fitting uniform of the middle American mom but lovers of normcore have made these relaxed fit pants a trend. Cuff your mom jeans to a cropped length for summer and style with Birkenstocks for a fully-fledged mom daytime look, then swap for T-Bar heels for a night out.

7. Kitsch Florals

image

Florals are the epitome of femininity, but even if you’re not a girly girl you can still rock this trend – this season, it’s all about taking florals to the extreme, with prints that intentionally look like your granny’s old curtains. Feel free to match prints with a cutesy kitsch two-piece or clash them as designer Mary Katrantzou continues to do every season.
